Scholarships

Dear Graduating High School Senior:
The Society Incorporated, Supporting the Arts is an organization founded in 1983 as a non-profit organization of professional women of color who are dedicated to enhancing, exposing, and promoting youth in the arts. We provide support for young literary, visual, musical and performing artists.
We are proud to offer $2000.00 Emerging Artist Scholarships in the following categories:
Visual Arts (graphic media and film)
Performing Arts (dance and theatrical)
Literary Arts (written and spoken word)
Musical Arts (vocal and instrumental)
All applicants must comply with the requirements below:
❏ Be a senior student of an accredited high school in good standing and eligible to receive a high school diploma at the end of 2022-2023 Academic Year and plan to attend college in the fall.
❏ Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. from your high school. (You must provide a copy of your latest transcript with your completed application).
❏ Be involved in school and community leadership activities and exhibit qualities of high character and integrity.
❏ Complete the formal scholarship application along with all necessary verification.
❏ Submit two (2) letters of recommendation that show evidence of character, leadership, and/or community service.
❏ Complete the scholarship requirements for Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literary Arts or Musical Arts.
❏ All applicants must write an essay explaining their interest and goals in the field of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literary Arts or Musical Arts.
❏ All applicants must sign the attached application certifying that all information provided is true and complete to the best of their knowledge. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Application Requirements:

Write a 300-word essay explaining your interest and goals in your artistic field.

Submit two (2) letters of recommendations from people who know you well and are knowledgeable about your artistic, scholastic and community service work. At least one of these letters must be from one of your high school teachers. Fellow students, friends, or family members will not be accepted as references.

The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A., exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service activities. Provide a copy of your official transcript with the application.

Submit an electronic representation of your work. This may be a photo of your art or written word or a video of your performance – audio visual production, spoken word, theatrical, dance or musical performance.

Submit a photo of yourself with the application.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
